The Southern Bell's

I absolutely loved working with the Bell family to plan for this beautiful day! Their daughters wedding reception was held at the Comus Inn in Dickerson, MD on the last weekend in July. The bride chose a bold color scheme of orange and purple and the contrast was amazing! The bride's mom (being from the south) was a big fan of ferns and said everyone in the south has a fern plant...so... I incorporated fern leaves into the arrangements-I love when I can add an extra special touch here and there!

There were a mix of high and low centerpieces. (If you are having a tented or ballroom reception where there are high ceilings, you might want to consider doing a few tall centerpeices. It really helps to fill the space!)

The low centerpieces were lanterns sitting in a ring of flowers and natural branches.

The high centerpieces were elevated on tall vases and also incorporated the natural branches.

These are hot air balloon centerpieces.

I worked with a bride that was born in New Mexico. New Mexico has a hot air balloon festival every year, and her mom and grandmothers thought it would be a cute idea if they had mini hot air balloon centerpieces. It was a GREAT idea! This picture does not do them justice! (Also, I am not great with the camera.)

They are so bright and fun, and perfect for July. Bright zinnia's were added to the baskets, and a small bride and groom were placed on top of the flowers (the bride and groom figurines are their own family treasures). I love when my bride's and their families incorporate things that have personal meaning for them. It just adds an extra special touch to the day!

Purple is Hot!

Literally. Not only does purple happen to be one of the most popular colors this season, but this purple wedding fell on one of the hottest days we had in July. It took place overlooking the Chesapeake Bay...luckily there was a nice bay breeze!

This is a picture of the Bride's bouquet-it is a mix of white and lavander roses, lisianthus, and freesia.

I created the cake topper. The cake was designed by Cake I Do! (www.cakeido.com)
