Sweet September

Hello! I am a bit behind in showing my latest events. I will be working to get caught up on here within the next couple weeks, so stay tuned!

Fall is my favorite time of year, and September was a beautiful month for weddings. I know I say that basically every month, but it's true. Each month has something wonderful to offer!

This wedding was held at The Comus Inn in Dickerson, MD. It had rained almost the whole week leading up to this day...it even poured the morning of(doesn't sound like September is so beautiful...but just wait!). I was setting up the archway under the tent (so sad) and was bummed for the couple that this had been about the only rainy week in September. I finished setting everything up, and then something awesome happened! Despite the forecast of all day rain/drizzles, it stopped raining! Yay! The couple got to be married out on the lawn with the Sugarloaf Mountains as a backdrop as originally planned! Definitely beat the alternative!

The Archway is made up of all natural branches with a few berry pods and calla lilies

We're painting the roses red!

These are a few pictures from 2 different weddings. Both were at Ceresville Mansion and both used varying shades of red roses!

The Southern Bell's

I absolutely loved working with the Bell family to plan for this beautiful day! Their daughters wedding reception was held at the Comus Inn in Dickerson, MD on the last weekend in July. The bride chose a bold color scheme of orange and purple and the contrast was amazing! The bride's mom (being from the south) was a big fan of ferns and said everyone in the south has a fern plant...so... I incorporated fern leaves into the arrangements-I love when I can add an extra special touch here and there!

There were a mix of high and low centerpieces. (If you are having a tented or ballroom reception where there are high ceilings, you might want to consider doing a few tall centerpeices. It really helps to fill the space!)

The low centerpieces were lanterns sitting in a ring of flowers and natural branches.

The high centerpieces were elevated on tall vases and also incorporated the natural branches.

These are hot air balloon centerpieces.

I worked with a bride that was born in New Mexico. New Mexico has a hot air balloon festival every year, and her mom and grandmothers thought it would be a cute idea if they had mini hot air balloon centerpieces. It was a GREAT idea! This picture does not do them justice! (Also, I am not great with the camera.)

They are so bright and fun, and perfect for July. Bright zinnia's were added to the baskets, and a small bride and groom were placed on top of the flowers (the bride and groom figurines are their own family treasures). I love when my bride's and their families incorporate things that have personal meaning for them. It just adds an extra special touch to the day!

Purple is Hot!

Literally. Not only does purple happen to be one of the most popular colors this season, but this purple wedding fell on one of the hottest days we had in July. It took place overlooking the Chesapeake Bay...luckily there was a nice bay breeze!

This is a picture of the Bride's bouquet-it is a mix of white and lavander roses, lisianthus, and freesia.

Local and In Season!

I love to pick my own flowers. Around here, the local farms grow zinnias and sunflowers, in July and August. AND the best part is...you get to pick them yourself! They are the perfect flowers for summer weddings because they come in a variety of bright colors, they hold up well in the summer heat, they have a large bloom so you don't need a ton of them, and they fit just about any budget!

I picked these from Lewis Orchard in Poolesville, MD for only 30 cents per flower! Picture bunches of these in mason jars or metal watering cans, or single stems in bud vases of varying sizes. It would be super cute!

Now, this is fun!

This was from another June wedding. The reception was held in downtown Frederick, MD. Bright yellow spider mums and various green flowers popped against the black and white damask print used at the reception. Damask print is a favorite of mine, so I loved seeing my flowers with that backdrop. Fun!

A Beautiful Day

The month of June had a few very beautiful days for weddings. This wedding was held outdoors at The Comus Inn, and the dark purple calla lilies gave a modern and chic feel to the rural setting.

Paradise

Well, I think it's about time I share what I have been up to and show you some of my most recent work!

I was given the opportunity to design floral arrangements for a tropical, Tarzan themed graduation party. What fun!! I used all tropical flowers, smooth river rocks, and even a few baby pineapples to finish the look (look closely...they are tiny and cute!). The arrangements went out on a patio and were placed on tables covered in burlap (such a good idea, although I cannot take credit for that one!)

Feels like paradise!
